Pathe News Web Site www.britishpathe.com Pathe News web site - this contains lots of film clip that can be downloaded for free (or pay for them) but it is a complicated site to use especially if you want the clips free. (The free clips have a pale watermark on them.)

See instructions below on how to use the site.
We have opened the site in a new window so you can refer back to these instructions:

At the top see ‘Search Pathe Database’
In the box below enter the subject click on go
A list of films will appear
On right make sure ‘FREE PREVIEW (128 KB/SEC)’ is selected (it usually is)
The Preview button allows you to see the pictures on the video as still slides
Use Download Now to get the film
On the next window select the country of residence United Kingdom (on the left) then click the proceed button
(Click OK or yes to any warning windows that appear)
A form will appear that asks for your email and address. To avoid filling it in again leave the tick in ‘Remember me next time I visit’.
Take out the tick so you do not subscribe to Pathe News newsletter and click in the yes box to say you have read the term and conditions.
Click on the ‘Proceed’ button
Click on OK in the window that appears, yes in the next window
Click on ‘Click here to get your files’
Click on the file name and select save. Do not rename the file if you want to link to it in ActiveStudio (Promethean software).
Save it on you computer.
Phew!

Unusual Fonts

Beware putting too many fonts on your computer - they can slow it up.

Some of these sites have pop-up windows - close them.

Beware using unusual fonts on a web site, because fonts on the Internet can only be seen if the font is contained on the computer that is viewing the site. If you make them into a picture (graphic) and then put them on a web site they will be viewed as intended.
