To look at the following issues in relation to the EVC's responsibilities:
1. Roles and responsibilities.
2. Competence and leadership.
3. Risk assessment and management.
4. What the EVC needs to know.
5. What the EVC needs to do.

Course outline will be led by PowerPoint presentation.
Detail and points of interest expanded on in a variety of discussion tasks both in small groups and whole group.

This course follows the format developed by the Outdoor Education Adviser's Panel; as such it follows the nationally set standard. Certification is issued which is now recognised by most Education Authorities.

Participants should have a general awareness of their school's Educational Visits Policy and of the Local Authority Policy and Guidelines on Educational Visits. A knowledge of the DfES guidelines "Health and Safety of Pupils on Educational Visits", and it's supplements, available online as a download from: http://www.teachernet.gov.uk/wholeschool/healthandsafety/visits/
