• To examine the main elements of effective CPD provision in line with the strategic planning and development processes of schools.
• To begin to develop a model for the evaluation of the impact of CPD on school performance.
• To examine the roles of coaching and mentoring within the professional development process.
• To plan the future provision of CPD related support for schools.
  
  

The course is the beginning of formal Local Authority support for primary schools in the strategic planning and impact evaluation of continuing professional development. The day will be interactive and requires participants to bring along 'hard copy examples' of their CPD strategy and any further examples of impact evaluation which they have developed.

During the course of the day there will be opportunities to share experiences as well as inputs on the strategic development process as it relates to the school development/improvement plan and the SEF. There will also be an opportunity to consider the roles of coaching and mentoring in the development and support process.

This session will be followed by an opportunity, for those school representatives that wish to, to develop work in the provision of CDP with in-school support from Ian and the Primary Strategy team.
