...information to show how children can move
towards the early learning goals

...learning outdoors on a bigger
and more active scale

Each page illustrates how outdoor activities can help children make progress in one area of the curriculum.
One early learning goal has been chosen to illustrate possibilities in each curriculum area.
One suggested activity has been expanded upon in detail.

Ideally

The indoor and outdoor environments should work as one, and be planned for as one.
Outdoor play should be available all year, there is no such thing as unsuitable weather, only unsuitable clothing!
Children should be able to move freely from indoors to out and back again.
Children should be encouraged to improve their fitness and enjoy being outside.
