NELMA 2009
This year’s glittering NELMAS (North East Linclonshire Media Awards for Schools) was held on the 15th July at The Grimsby Auditorium. In true Oscar style, pupils, teachers, parents and VIPs arrived at the auditorium dressed in their finest clothes at 6pm and spent the following three hours being entertained by watching films and animations created by our talented pupils.
This year also saw entries from local secondary schools and so it was a fantastic opportunity to watch the progression from the Foundation Stage up to Key Stage 3 and 4.
This year’s ceremony was opened by Stuart Powell, Interim Head of Standards in Schools for North East Lincolnshire. He welcomed the Mayor of Grimsby, other VIPs, teachers, parents and pupils to the auditorium and the show began!
The presenter for this year’s ceremony was Look North’s reporter Philip Norton.
Born in Grimsby, Philip was also educated in North East Lincolnshire schools and was delighted to be involved in the NELMA.
He was very impressed with both the quality and the creativity that the films and videos displayed this year.
As part of his introduction Philip talked about his career as a Look North reporter and showed some fascinating film footage from his work all over the world. |
