Woodlands Primary School – Centre of Excellence
Woodlands Primary School and Nunsthorpe Community School, both in Grimsby, have become the first primary schools in Britain to achieve Centre of Excellence status for their use of Promethean White Boards.
Woodlands Primary School receiving their award. Woodlands Primary School receiving their award.
As with Nunsthorpe Community School the training at Woodlands Primary School was carried out by the ICT Co-ordinator of the local Education Action Zone and was delivered over the last half of the Autumn term 2002 in school. The school has been buying boards over the last 3 years. It now has a board in every classroom.

The school has seen it’s most jaded teachers revitalised by the technology, and it is convinced that Promethean White Boards have made a significant contribution to raising the attainment and motivation of pupils. Indeed it was the lead school in the local Education Action Zone in encouraging other schools in the Zone and the wider LEA to take up the technology.
