Tricky Past Tenses.

Lots of verbs make their past tense by adding –ed, but lots of verbs don’t follow this rule.

Fill in the crossword by changing these verbs to the past tense.

Does the spelling of the root word change when you add an antonym prefix? Write a rule for each one.

Test your rules by writing three examples for each.

E.g. Rule for adding 'un' = The spelling of the root word does not change.

Examples = unclean, untidy, unbelievable.

Teacher notes – This activity will deliver English Framework Year 7 WORD 4 Pupils should revise, consolidate and secure prefixes, including antonym prefixes.
